Biography

Hallie Lepphaille (she/they) is a higher education professional focused on advancing equitable, anti-racist student success and strengthening advising systems. Born and raised in Sonoma County, Hallie brings both professional and lived experience to her work. As a first-generation college student and former Santa Rosa Junior College student, they are especially familiar with the transfer experience and the navigation required to move through California’s public higher education systems. Hallie approaches academic and career advising as both relational and structural—supporting individual students while working to improve the institutional practices that shape their experiences.

Most recently, she served as the primary Academic Advisor and Program Coordinator for the Liberal Studies Elementary Education program at Cal Poly Humboldt, guiding future educators from orientation through graduation and partnering closely with faculty and fieldwork supervisors to enhance retention and student support. While at Humboldt, Hallie also served as Co-Chair of the Equity in Advising Committee and as a Staff Senator, contributing to the development of equity-centered advising rubrics, advancing professional development initiatives, and strengthening shared governance across the institution. As a queer practitioner, they value creating affirming spaces and especially enjoy connecting with and supporting LGBTQ+ students as they navigate their academic and professional journeys.

Hallie holds both a B.A. and M.A. in English. Their graduate scholarship focused on developing an intersectional, equity-based literary publishing textbook examining how racism, ableism, heterosexism, and cisnormativity shape hiring, editorial decision-making, and representation in the publishing industry. Grounded in critical race, gender, and sexuality studies, this work informs her commitment to anti-racist practice, equity-centered decision-making, and expanding access within higher education.

Committed to Sonoma County, they care for an aging orchard of 175 apple trees and 14 opinionated chickens, and volunteer with Food For Thought Food Bank—investing in nourishment, access, and community both on campus and off.
