Career Advisory Board

Purpose and Direction: 

  • Serve as a sounding board for the direction of career development at Sonoma State; provide insight on potential areas of collaboration and growth for career initiatives and support the goal of serving all Sonoma State students to have access to career opportunities and the possibility of increasing their social capital
  • Assist with the integration of career development and related learning outcomes throughout the curriculum of each academic school at Sonoma State
  • Develop potential funding sources and work to ensure the fiscal health of career development programs and expand key career initiatives across campus through financial advancement (revenue generation, employer sponsorships, donor gifts, grants)
  • Establish and oversee the Career Champions Network of staff and faculty that are trained and identifiable resource partners for student career development across campus

Membership to include: 

  • A senior administrator overseeing career development, or their designee, will serve as chair
  • A dean, chair, or faculty member from each school
  • Several employer partners and/or recruiters that hire Sonoma State students and graduates
  • Two representatives from the Advancement Office, one focused on Alumni Engagement
  • A representative from an off-campus workforce-related community organization or government entity
  • Two students appointed by the Associated Students
  • Career advisor/s and employer relations Student Affairs staff members
  • Ex-officio members may include Vice President's Senior/Director's, or other relevant administrators
